Handmade Christmas Shopping…From the Comfort of your own Home!

2015 is almost over….How did that happen? Can it really be Christmas AGAIN? I’ve somehow done quite a bit of my festive shopping, much of it online, so some part of this truth must have dawned! And I might put up some decorations this weekend, and jolly the place up. This year has been a bit of a struggle, healthwise, and consequently I’m not doing my usual round of fairs and markets. For one thing I’ve had to cut right back on my making. But you can still shop with me, by visiting my Etsy and Folksy online shops! There are links here, on the right of the page.  Or shop locally and visit Urban Folk in Shrewsbury (the cute place just up Grope Lane, for the uninitiated. It’s adorable; you have to visit). I’m going to be adding new items online and posting right up to Christmas. So have a peep and make life easy, by shopping from the comfort of home and knowing your order will be packed up and shipped to you super quickly…..Handmade and technology heaven!IMG-20151202-05797 (1024x1024)IMG-20151120-05758 (1024x655)IMG-20150920-05578 (1024x796)

Made in Shropshire – a 10th Birthday Milestone!

mini fleece elephant

The Made in Shropshire group formed 10 years ago, in 2005, initially the idea of and a collaboration between Shropshire Rural Hub and WIRE – Women in Rural Enterprise. Ten years on and the group is still going strong, with many new faces having joined to showcase their making talents and wonderful products, alongside a few original members (of which I am ALMOST one, having joined a month or so after the group formed. I can’t believe it’s that long. I’m sure I don’t look a day older).

To celebrate there’ll be a few special touches to tomorrow’s Fair in the Square in Shrewsbury town centre, and even the Mayor is coming down to have a look around and sample some of the celebration cake! (Served on a specially commissioned ‘Pots and Dots’ plate). There’ll be balloons a-flying and cupcakes to share, by Lynne Morgan of Baked for You; though I’m loyal to my favourite nibble and will be starting with one of her glorious shortbreads with my first coffee of the morning.

So if you’re around tomorrow and can come along, then do! It’s 9am-5pm, as normal and the sun will be coming out to celebrate too, I’m absolutely confident! I have bought some delightful new fabrics and have made some cute bits and pieces with it – it’s nice to have something new and fresh each month – and would love to see you!

Made in Shropshire Fair in the Square, Saturday 8th August

IMG-20150613-05289 (497x640)A quick post to remind you that it’s Made in Shropshire arts and food market this Saturday, 8th August. It’s the usual time and place – from 9am-5pm in the main Square in Shrewsbury town centre. I have some new goodies and will also be running a little summer sale, so I hope to see you there!

At last…I’m doing a market! Made in Shropshire, Saturday 13th June….

It’s been a long time since my last post.  In fact, this is my first of the year. Sometimes life gets in the way. It’s been getting in my way, but now I’m back on track and getting down to it again. Another first of the year, for me, is this Saturday’s Made in Shropshire market in Shrewsbury town square. I have some lovely new goodies to share with you, so it would be fabulous to see you there! As per, it runs from 9am-5pm. It’s also Carnival day, so remember that the town centre is closed to traffic between 1.30 and 3.30pm, while the parade passes through. So come in early, or go home later!

I’m going to post some pictures tomorrow, so come back and take a sneak peek! I’m looking forward to Saturday….I’ve missed my days in the square and hope to see you there!

Chronicle Christmas Market…Last Chance for Crafty Shopping!

IMG-20140928-04610 (1024x815)This is just a reminder about the Chronicle Christmas Market in Shrewsbury’s town square this Saturday, the 20th December. I cannot believe how quickly time has passed this year! This is my last market of the year, so do come along and see what you can find on my stall for your Christmas stockings and gifts…..A nice, big event, with over 50 stalls with crafts and delicious local food……I hope to see you and wish you all a Merry Christmas 2014! Squirrel and Owl say, ‘Happy New Year’ too!

Just a reminder….Made in Shropshire….Saturday 8th November!

IMG-20141012-04620 (1024x778)Don’t forget to come out tomorrow to see Made in Shropshire in the main square in Shrewsbury town centre! Lots of lovely crafty stalls and at some point, I believe, an opera singer! We’re there from 9am-5pm…..Time to start picking up your Christmas presents! See you there……

I LOVE these Liberty prints!

I go in and out with Liberty fabrics – I’m having an ‘in’ time at the moment and can’t get enough of them. Strangely enough I saw the red and pink Liberty fabric in all its bright and British glory in a Parisian haberdashery shop this summer and have been coveting it ever since. I had to have some. And I’ve acquired the same design in the purple colourway too – plus two new ditsy florals from the A/W 2014 range. They are just adorably pretty and have so far made these sweet lavender pillow stacks and a lavender cat. I’m about to finish a cloud, a mini lavender bird and a couple of phone cases. All will be coming with me tomorrow to the Made in Shropshire ‘Fair in the Square’ – it’s Shrewsbury Flower Show weekend too, so that means it’s either going to be much busier….or much quieter……such are the vagaries of markets, especially during summer holiday time. You just never can tell! Do pop along to The Square anyway, if you’re about – we’re there from 9am-5pm! Then I’ll be adding some pieces into my Etsy and Folksy shops next week…. Don’t Forget…It’s Woore!

A quick reminder about tomorrow’s Vintage Escapades at Woore Victory Hall, 10am-4pm. Vintage, handmade and a lovely tearoom! There are some fab exhibitors, so it’s going to be wonderful! See you there….I have lots of goodies to show you!

Through Urban Folk’s Window…

I took this quick snap of the window at Urban Folk….I like the slight reflection in the glass, making it all seem rather ethereal. Spot the cushion I just took in there – in this amazing, nicely weighted Japanese cotton fabric by Koko Seki. These bright pastels are just the thing for Spring and bang on interiors trend! There’s another inside the shop in a different colourway too.

Visit Lauren Hill’s lovely shop, Urban Folk, Grope Lane, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY1. Open Monday to Saturday.
